Wedding Officiant Services in San Diego County

(Wedding Officiant + Marriage Licensing)

Marriage Licenses & Legal Requirements

Do we need witnesses for our wedding ceremony in California?

Witness requirements depend on the type of marriage license used. A public marriage license requires at least one witness, while a confidential marriage license requires no witnesses. Curlypri Services is authorized to issue confidential marriage licenses for eligible couples.

What is the difference between a public and confidential marriage license in California?

A public marriage license becomes part of the public record and requires at least one witness. A confidential marriage license is not part of the public record, does not require witnesses, and is only accessible to the married couple.

Who qualifies for a confidential marriage license in California?

Couples must be living together as spouses at the time of application and attest to that fact under penalty of perjury. Both parties must appear together and meet California identification requirements.

Can we get married the same day we apply for a marriage license?

Yes. California allows same-day issuance and solemnization of marriage licenses. Curlypri Services offers “License + Ceremony” services for eligible couples in San Diego County.

Wedding Ceremony & Officiant Services

Are you authorized to officiate weddings in California?

Yes. Curlypri Services is a licensed California Notary Public authorized to solemnize marriages and issue confidential marriage licenses in San Diego County.

Can you officiate a small or private wedding ceremony?

Absolutely. Curlypri Services specializes in intimate ceremonies, micro-weddings, and private vow exchanges, including backyard, office, and on-site ceremonies where permitted.

Do you offer bilingual wedding ceremonies?

Yes. Wedding officiant services are available in both English and Spanish to accommodate bilingual couples and families.

Can we customize our wedding ceremony?

Yes. Ceremony wording can be customized within California legal requirements, including personal vows, cultural elements, and non-religious or spiritual preferences.

Identification & Documentation

What identification is required for a marriage license or ceremony?

Both parties must present valid government-issued photo identification, such as a California driver’s license, state ID, passport, or other acceptable ID under California law.

Do we need to bring our own marriage license?

If you are obtaining a confidential marriage license through Curlypri Services, the license is issued during your appointment. If you already have a public license, you must bring the original license to the ceremony.

Notary & Legal Scope Questions

Is a notary public allowed to give legal advice about marriage or documents?

No. A California Notary Public is not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice, interpret laws, or recommend legal documents. Notarial services are limited to verifying identity and performing authorized notarial acts.

Does notarization make a document legally valid?

Notarization verifies the identity and willingness of the signer but does not validate the content, legality, or enforceability of a document.

Scheduling, Location & Fees

Do you offer mobile wedding officiant services?

Yes. Mobile services are available throughout San Diego County, subject to availability and travel fees.

How far in advance should we book?

While same-day services may be available, advance booking is recommended to ensure availability, especially for weekends and peak wedding seasons.

What are your fees for wedding officiant and license services?

Fees vary based on services requested, location, and timing. California notarial fees are set by statute, while officiant and travel fees may apply. Please contact Curlypri Services for current pricing.

Recording & After the Ceremony

What happens to the marriage license after the ceremony?

The completed marriage license is recorded with the County Recorder’s Office in accordance with California law. Couples may then request certified copies directly from the county.

How long does it take for the marriage to be officially recorded?

Recording times by county typically take up to 10 days. Certified copies are issued by the County Recorder, not the officiant.
